Problem

Students who transition from on-campus to off-campus housing may face different challenges that impact their academic persistence and success.  Analyzing the retention rates and success outcomes of the more than 70% of students who choose off-campus living arrangements can provide valuable insights into support systems and interventions needed to ensure all students thrive, regardless of their housing choices.

Technical Solution

The team built an intelligent dashboard system that transforms SDSU housing data into actionable insights for preventing student attrition. Through a streamlined administrative portal and a highly accurate machine learning model (Sigmoid Neuron, 86% accuracy), the tool identifies at-risk students and pinpoints the specific factors contributing to their likelihood of dropping out, enabling targeted interventions.
