“Our dashboard opens the opportunity to expand these insights to other CSU campuses.”

Problem

Over 70% of SDSU students live off-campus, posing a risk of SDSU losing $20,000 in annual housing revenue for every freshman student who drops out of the housing program due to low-quality on-campus housing.

Technical Solution

The team developed a dashboard that predicts student attrition risk through SDSU housing data. It includes a portal where housing administrators can input student information, and a machine learning model (Sigmoid Neuron with 86% accuracy) analyzes the data to predict the student’s risk of dropping out and contributing factors.
