Problem
The current expense auditing process at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is highly manual, time-consuming, and prone to errors. The senior manager of finance and administration faces challenges such as combining data from multiple sources, dealing with miscategorized expenses, lack of automation in data validation, and difficulty in identifying high-risk outliers.
Technical Solution
The team developed an AI-driven solution that leverages Python libraries to combine data files, automate expense categorization, analyze expense data for policy violations and exceptions, and flag true high-risk activities. The solution streamlines the auditing process, enhances efficiency, and reduces the risk of errors and delays.
