Cal Poly welcomes Sajaa Altaleb, who will be stepping into the critical role of Program Lead for the university’s 5G Innovation Lab. Altaleb brings an impressive background and extensive expertise in the dynamic field of 5G technology and digital innovation.

Altaleb holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communications Engineering – Optical Networks and a Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering from The National Energy University (UNITEN) in Malaysia. Her impressive list of licenses and certifications includes CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, edX Verified Certificate for HTML5 and CSS Fundamentals, Foundation of Business Strategy, and CompTIA IT Fundamentals.

An experienced IT professional, Altaleb brings nearly a decade of research, teaching, and leadership in the telecommunications industry, specializing in optical networking, cloud computing frameworks, and LTE. Her expertise encompasses IT infrastructure and systems deployment, network access solutions, data management, and user experience design, making her an asset to the 5G Innovation Lab team. As an instructor at the nonprofit Minnesota Tech for Success, her leadership was instrumental in bridging the digital equity gap in underserved communities through partnerships with local academic institutions.

In her new role, she will lead large-scale initiatives to optimize core wireless services and capabilities, cultivate partnerships, and galvanize opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. She will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement innovation strategies and enrich academic engagement and excellence at Cal Poly. With her keen understanding of current challenges, opportunities, and new developments in the rapidly evolving IT industry, she is uniquely equipped to spearhead our efforts to leverage the power of 5G to deliver transformative solutions to today’s most complex and pressing problems. Her vast knowledge and experience will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping DxHub’s vision to revolutionize the digital landscape.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Altaleb enjoys traveling, eating spicy food and spending time with her family.
